I’m kinda’ disappointed by the fact that they picked LMP2 instead of a LMP1 campaign in the WEC.
Alfa has an astonishing reputation in motorsports, and an awesome series like the WEC is only fitting to that reputation.
I don’t know. Maybe they don’t have enough money available for LMP1, or maybe they will follow the Porsche and Nissan examples, of training their skills with P2, before stepping up to P1.
Anyways, I’m really curious to see how the whole 2017 P2 will turn out, and if manufacturers will be attracted to the series.
Will be interesting to see how manufacturers will pair up with the chassis suppliers. Alfa will probably work with Oak or Oreca, because France and Italy are geographically close.
I hope Audi is still interested in racing a prototype in America.
At some point, they were so interested, that they were rumored to consider racing a shitty DP car.

How many people in the US watch WEC, or any form of racing other than NASCAR?
One of the best responses I got when I told my friend I watch(ed) Formula 1 was “What the hell is Formula 1? A math competition?”
Another friend said he watches it too, but that “it’s not a sport.” Everyone else thinks racing = NASCAR.
Anyway... Imagine Alfa in NASCAR... Lol.

Alfa in NASCAR would be awesome. I mean they let the Japanese in why not the Italians. He’ll they could get Mercedes in too and it’ll be like WW2 all over again

I think it’s rather smart to pick the new unified P2 thing. I mean they’re primarily targetting the US, and to have the same impact there than they would by being competitive in local US P2 they’d have to do something like win Le Mans. And with those tiny budgets and no experience, it ain’t happening.
That said, I’m sad I won’t see them in Le Mans next year. But y’know, it’s like accepting that many of the cool GT3 won’t be there either. Sad but it makes sense.

Throw in a shit-ton of Ladas, and then fill the pit lane with randomly-placed parked Renaults.
Jeez, I helped fix Formula 1 a few weeks ago. Now I helped fix NASCAR. When do my paychecks arrive?
